Holy Tomatoes Batman!

Our tomato plant is getting huge! We've counted approximately 30 tomatoes on it. Unfortunately all that extra weight sent two main stalks crashing down. I was able to retie the stalks to our metal fence posts to hold it up. It appears we've managed to escape with no damage. The tomato plant is getting so large it's beginning to overcrowd and slow down the growth of the plants around it. We've harvested our first squash and zucchini this week, and continue to harvest a handful of beans every few days. We have approximately 6 green peppers that are ready to harvest within a week.

Our salad box is now filled and being wetted and mixed up for planting this week!

Fall Growing Plans

Here is our fall planting and Salad box plans:

Salad Box

Veggie Box

Beans!

We have beans! And lots of em. We have a handful to harvest every day. We have two pencil eraser sized tomatoes now growing. We've harvested the last of our broccoli and cauliflower this week. We harvested our first green pepper today, and have at least 10 growing. We also have a nice sized jalapeno that we'll be harvesting soon to enter into the brother vs. brother hot pepper competition. After a ton of flowering by the zuccini and squash, we now have squash and zuccini just starting to grow as well. We're also slowly getting the salad box setup for the fall.

5-26 Progress after days of heavy rain

Lots of growth the last few days. After multiple attempts to get our cucumbers, squash and zucinni seeds to sprout, we have all climbing plants finally on their way. Our broccoli has now started producing it's head, it's about the size of a quarter now. We have enough romaine to harvest a salad at any time.

5-16 Aprox Two Weeks in!

Lots of growth after 2 weeks. Hard to see in the picture, but we have lots of lettuce and carrots sprouting now. We're now just waiting on habinero sprouts indoors, as they haven't sprouted on their own yet. We also replanted one square of summer squash which hasn't sprouted today.

5-2 Second Planting

We did our second major planting on 5-2 after buying lots of transplants from Home Depot.

Update: Cucumber transplants planted on this date died. Squash and Zucinni seeds did not sprout. Replanted aprox a week later in warmer weather produced sprouted seeds right in the ground.

4-29 SFG First Planting

After building the box, filling with potting soil, peat moss and top soil, we planted our onions, broccoli, cauliflower and romaine lettuce.

4-29 SFG Built

SFG is built, filled and ready to go!

Square Foot Garden Started

I've decided to start a simple blog so we can chart our Square Foot Garden progress. I'll post occasional pictures to document planting dates and chart our plants growth progress.
